Upcoming Mahindra Electric Car
Mahindra is planning to launch three electric car in India namely- eKUV100, eXUV300 and Electric Aspire in three years with quadricycle vehicle.
eKUV 100 will be launched in last of this year. Mahindra KUV 100 will be modified to adapt battery pack, power source for this vehicle will be 165 kW(221 bhp) drive-train which will offer a range of 180 Km.
Mahindra XUV300 will be launched in 2020, this electric vehicle will use MESMA 2 platform, this car will be powered by 380 volt system with 150 kw battery which will offer 250 km of driving range.
Mahindra will lead the development of EV environment in partnership with Ford(joint venture), Mahindra will launch Electric Aspire under Mahindra badge and this car will be launched in 2021, it will have 150kW(210 bhp) motor. There is no any confirmation about battery of the Electric Aspire.
Electric ecosystem has started to take shape in India. Ford will provide platforms for electric vehicles and hardware like battery packs, powertrain system, power electronics and motor controller will be developed by Mahindra Electric by Mahindra Electric Division.
To promote electric ecosystem in country, government and automobile manufacturer are working together. Government has decreased GST on electric vehicle and providing subsidy for buying electric cars to Indian consumers. This scheme is under FAME(Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles).
Mahindra is also trying to capture three wheeler vehicle and small vehicles market. By the 2021 Mahindra drivetrain will range from 48 kw to 650 kw for small to large electric vehicle. Mahindra will assemble low voltage vehicles in Mahindra’s Bengaluru plant. Company will also supply its technology and hardware to other carmaker.
